First Period Dr. Wall Worcester Tankard, Of Bell Shape With Ridged Loop Handle

 

A Dr. Wall Worcester Tankard, of bell shape with ridged loop handle, painted in blue in the Chinese style with ‘Long Elizas’ in two large irregular shaped panels reserved upon a ground of cracked ice and prunus blossom.

B.F.S. I.A.14 ‘The Cracked Ice Ground’ pattern, only appears on bell-shaped and cylindrical tankards of which this is the smallest and rarest size.

Circa. 1765

Dimensions:   Height: 3 ¼ ins. (8cms.)

Marks:   Open crescent mark in blue to base.
