A Particularly Fine Derby Pierced Circular Basket

A particularly fine Derby pierced circular basket, the latticed sides applied over the intersections of the exterior with blue florets and at each side at the rim with double ropetwist handles, each terminal applied with leaves and flowers, the interior beautifully painted by the ‘Moth Painter’ with a particularly fine spray of cherries, moths and other insects, the basket weave base of the basket painted in a pale shade of yellow.
One of the most skilled of the insect and fruit painters of which there are at least four painting in this style at Derby at the time.
